Kolony: Building Stronger Communities Through Smarter Connections

In an increasingly fragmented world, staying meaningfully connected with your immediate community, your housing society, your extended family, and your professional network  has become harder than it should be. Important updates get buried in group chats. Event coordination happens across five different apps. New members have no way to find or connect with people in their own community. And anyone with a link can walk in.

Kolony is a gated community platform built to solve exactly this. Designed from the ground up for family networks, residential societies, alumni groups, cultural associations, and professional bodies, Kolony gives verified communities a private digital home where only pre-approved members can enter.

Access is controlled through OTP-verified login tied to a member list managed by the community’s own administrators. There are no open signups, no guest links, and no exceptions. If your number isn’t registered by the admin, you don’t get in.

Inside, Kolony replaces the clutter of scattered group chats and notice boards with purpose-built tools: a searchable member directory, encrypted private and group messaging, event management with ticketing and RSVPs, a community calendar, pinned announcements, and a matrimony feature for trusted matchmaking within the community. For family networks specifically, Kolony offers an interactive, multi-generational family tree, a feature designed to help families map their lineage, connect relatives across cities, and preserve their heritage in a way no other platform offers.

What sets Kolony apart isn’t just its feature set, it’s the philosophy behind it. Every feature exists to serve a real, practical need for communities that value trust and structure. Instead of trying to be a general-purpose social network, Kolony is built specifically for groups where identity matters, where membership is earned, and where communication needs to be organised, not just fast.

The concept for Kolony was born from a simple observation by Vinith Shivashankaran, who identified the gap in how communities communicate and went on to shape the product’s design and user experience. The platform is being engineered by a core development team of Aditya Acharya, Akhil Nair, and Anand Ramesh  who are building Kolony’s architecture from the ground up.

Kolony is being developed under Capernaum Tech Pvt. Ltd., a bootstrapped product studio founded by Rohan Abraham, Shrinit Mohanraj, and Akash Surendran with the vision of building digital products that make a measurable impact. With several products already in the pipeline, Capernaum Tech is driven by the belief that technology should serve people, not just scale.

Together, this team of seven is taking its first step toward giving every community  from a 50-family housing society to a 5,000-member clan network  a home that’s secure, organised, and built to last.

Kolony is currently accepting early communities for its waitlist.
